Bits and pieces

I do not get hayfever. But chunks of tree being blown into my eyes nevertheless hurt. Ow.

Had enormously lazy night last night - sent Pete off to the cinema, and sat on the sofa knitting & watching Shrek, followed by assorted news programmes to see what was happening with the elections[0]. Dress is coming along nicely - would like to have it finished by the start of July. Would *really* like to have it finished by Glastonbury, but this may not happen.

Have just found out that the three people I know who are Labour councillors in Oxford held their seats, despite Labour losing overall control of Oxford. Hurrah. Proof there that actually putting the effort into being a good local councillor works.

And in other news, the British Library are putting 19th c. newspapers online. Shiny!

[0] Labour losing lots of councillors nationally, the Lib Dems & Tories picking lots up, the BNP losing all but one of the Burnley elections it stood in, UKIP getting 2 councillors (in Derby & in Hull). This as of this morning. Ken predicted to win (in a second-round runoff with Norris), but results not till later today.
