The soldering itself is, as you so rightly say, an excellent piece of work. The *necessity* for the solder is arguably part of the bodge (the sensible/easy option would have been to just chop the connectors off, but then I couldn't use it as a spare for the Schmidt hub. Although likelihood of me actually needing this is low...)
