(Actually being drunk during the tattoo process is different, but probably still not recommended *G*)

Actually, it's a pretty terrible idea; alcohol causes you to bleed more freely. It also doesn't actually dull pain very well; it often makes you care less that you are in pain but it is not analgesic until you're thoroughly smashed -- and even that effect has a lot to do with it being a muscle relaxant.
