Ooh, definitely grounds for cautious optimism. If he does start sleeping longer, my top tip would be 'don't expect yourself to suddenly have loads of energy and vim'. IME, it can take a long time to get over such long-term lack of sleep. Athough the great benefit of only one child is that you only have to survive it once - it was knocking-on 5 years for the adults by the time both ours were sleeping through.
