Names meme

If you call me...

Juliet - you are pretty much everyone, and you are correct.
J - you are Pete or [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth, in written form (cos they're both lazy, & Pete likes being able to write 'J & I' which he says looks pretty)
Neighbour! - you are [livejournal.com profile] marnameow
Ms Kemp - you are the electricity people or something else like that.
Miss Kemp - you are Barclays Bank, & it took you *6 years* of me asking for you to finally switch my account to Ms Kemp.
Ms Gillin - you are the vet, because all the rats are registered under Pete's surname.
Any alternative or shortened form of my first name - you are trying to piss me off, and are in really quite a lot of trouble. Unless it's a first offence, in which case I'll be generous & give you a warning.

i've never understood the preoccupation with being called "ms." it doesn't sound good, so that can't be the purpose. so this is either rooted in a desire for people not to know whether or not you are married (which would seem to imply that all married ms types should not wear wedding rings) or jealousy that there is no societal convention for men to be addressed differently according to whether or not they are married (i tend to think maybe one might be useful).

either way anyone who is overly sensitive about how they are addressed needs to be locked in a room with johnny rotten, brian clough and mark e smith for a week.
