Glastonbury thoughts...

catsgomiaow mentioned ID & CitizenCard & whatnot for getting into Glastonbury. Note that you *don't* have to get a CitizenCard if you don't want one[0] to get onsite. A photo driving licence is also acceptable, as is your passport. Passports haven't been mentioned on the website because they don't want to promote them since the police think they're too valuable for people to be carting around the festival with them. If you do take yours, you should put it in the lockup immediately on arrival.

In other news, it occurs to me that I used to have a little tin for putting fagends in (they don't biodegrade, & the cows don't like them, so every single one dropped on the floor has to be picked up again before the cows can come back), but have lost it. But! these people sell little pocket ashtrays for £2.99 apiece. I shall be acquiring one - anyone else want one & I can get a job lot? (specify design if bothered)

I also need a folding chair (knees increasingly buggered...) & a space blanket to put under the sleeping bags. Must go camping-shop shopping!

If you don't fancy doing an online order, I have a fab little brushed aluminium Muji one. However, there website is teh slow, and I can't quite decide which category it would be in, so....

Online order = bestest because does not involve actually getting off my bottom & finding time to go actually shopping & stuff.

Sadly I shall have to go actually shopping for folding chair because ease of carrying & weight & such are all very important.

Thanks for the information about ID. My CitizenCard arrived yesterday, I'm afraid: lacking a driving licence I assumed it was the only way in, but I wouldn't have taken my passport in any case. So I have contributed in a small way to voluntary support for a compulsory scheme.

I dunno. When I asked at the hospital they said best not. I suspect that given that both are dodgy (though the left worse), taking the weight off one would just make the other worse. It's standing up that's worse than walking, anyway - as long as I can have a little sit down on a regular basis I should be OK :-)

Ask the boards if in doubt - I would expect that if it has a photo, then yes.

OOI, why nervous about the passport? Leaving it in the tent, sure, but the lockups are pretty secure (the 9 return train tickets I will once again have with me is worth more, financially, than my passport; as is my rucksack, & even the spare cash I'll also put in the lockup).

True, but beware that you can be fined £1000 for not informing the DVLA of a change of address (it's free - just fill in the details on the back of the licence and send it off and they'll send you a licence with your new details).

Light and comfortable (so you don't bugger up your back taking care of your knees) folding chair is creature! I volunteer for some chair or other stuff carrying if needed. (Except not if I've got lots of stuff myself because then I will fall over.)

Mostly I only tend to have a reasonably small amount of cash, return train ticket if getting train, and one credit or debit card with me in terms of valuables, and to keep them with me at all times. If I did bring a passport I probably would put it in the lockup, but that would certainly add a level of inconvenience!
