ID info here and also here.
In other news, it occurs to me that I used to have a little tin for putting fagends in (they don't biodegrade, & the cows don't like them, so every single one dropped on the floor has to be picked up again before the cows can come back), but have lost it. But! these people sell little pocket ashtrays for £2.99 apiece. I shall be acquiring one - anyone else want one & I can get a job lot? (specify design if bothered)
I also need a folding chair (knees increasingly buggered...) & a space blanket to put under the sleeping bags. Must go camping-shop shopping!
[0] I explicitly don't because I don't trust the Home Office not to claim that CCard takeup rates represent support for compulsory ID card

Date: 2005-05-10 11:30 am (UTC)Sadly I shall have to go actually shopping for folding chair because ease of carrying & weight & such are all very important.

Date: 2005-05-10 11:47 am (UTC)OOI, why nervous about the passport? Leaving it in the tent, sure, but the lockups are pretty secure (the 9 return train tickets I will once again have with me is worth more, financially, than my passport; as is my rucksack, & even the spare cash I'll also put in the lockup).

Date: 2005-05-10 01:25 pm (UTC)- apparently it takes 28 days. You just have to be over 18, get someone professional to sign it who's not a relative and put a couple of passport photos on the form.

Date: 2005-05-12 11:02 pm (UTC)Indeed, most the people I've heard who seem in favour of an "ID card" seem to do so only because they view it as a more convenient and cheaper form of ID, compared with a passport..
