Shop stewarding
Feb. 12th, 2003 09:03 pmThis week, I have mostly been on a course learning how to be a shop steward. It's been pretty useful & interesting & stuff, which is nice. Although I have Guilt about skiving off during busy week at work, even though it's *not* actually skiving off, because if they're going to have a recognised union (which is, I might add, a good thing all round) then it's a lot better if I know how to do my job, right? Anyway. We have learnt about representing people, and negotiation, and recruitment, and equal ops, and all sorts of other excitements. Final day tomorrow.
Monday evening: pottered. Tuesday evening: went to the Tate Modern with
wintrmute which was cool. The Kapoor installation (current Turbine Hall thing) is *ace* and makes your eyes go all funny due to being too big. And then there is of course lots of other exciting stuff, & also some crap stuff. And a grand piano suspended upside down from the ceiling which explodes, slowly, with chords, on occasion (I liked). And then they threw us out cos it was closing time, so we had a wander along the South Bank until it got too cold & it was time for food & videos & stuff at the flat.
And today I am mostly pottering. And having a slight stress, but don't think I want to go into that here just now. Maybe another time.
