Spent Friday night knitting & watching TV/Father Ted DVD with [livejournal.com profile] atommickbrane. Which was most enjoyable, & definitely just what I needed. And I got sufficient of the Pete-jumper done that I was able to *finish* it on Saturday, hurrh. And it fits him & everything. I made him wear it to Cambridge so I could go "look! look!" at everyone :-)

Saturday evening we headed up to Cambridge for [livejournal.com profile] simonb's birthday celebrations. Much fun generally had. I was anticipating that I'd notice that I wasn't drinking, but in fact it didn't bother me at all (I did taste a couple of the whiskeys that Pete was having as he spent a happy few hours foraging through [livejournal.com profile] simonb's collection, but I don't think 3 or 4 sips total can really count as "drinking"). Which was nice. Although I did feel the need to have *something* in my hand, so went through quite a bit of fruit juice before deciding that I was oversugared & switching to water. Got a v nice massage off [livejournal.com profile] simonb, chatted to various people about various things, giggled with the breakaway party on the stairs for a bit (nice to chat to [livejournal.com profile] lnr - haven't seen her in ages, & glad to see her bouncy), ate lots of lovely vegan pesto pasta mmm... Top party all round. And very nearly no alarums & excursions, at least from what I saw. Hurrah. Wound up at 3am curled up on the sofa with Pete, [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth, [livejournal.com profile] marnameow, & [livejournal.com profile] sbp, which was an excellent state to be in. (btw, apologies to [livejournal.com profile] _nicolai_ for completely failing to be capable of coherent conversation at around 2am. I think you caught me as I was mid-carb-crash, from which the lovely [livejournal.com profile] marnameow rescued me a few min later, bless her.)

Next morning we gradually hauled our various selves out of bed, & were fed toast by [livejournal.com profile] simonb, who is truly a star. Especially as he also provided me with v fine peppermint tea, mmm[0]. Went over to the Carlton for lunch, & to catch [livejournal.com profile] j4 who was working behind the bar. She is utterly lovely & had brought me a little bag of assorted fruit/herbal teabags, all with labels attached to identify them with all their ingredients written on, at which I was very bouncy :-) Thank you sweetie![1] V good lunch was had, but sadly we needed to head back to London before Jan finished work, bah. Hopefully catch up again soon?

Good job we did head back, as Pete was very near zonked entirely. He managed to do the bins & defrost some pasta sauce before passing out on the sofa for the next couple of hours, while I did washing-up & washing & made carrot&lentil pate for this week's sandwiches.

And now: werk. Hrm. Am *freezing* - hat & scarf wearing in office sort of freezing. Have ordered a new heater.

[0] Further tea & general detox-related post to follow. I'm sure you're all looking forward to it lots...
[1] Indeed, I did very well indeed with presents over the weekend - [livejournal.com profile] simonb gave me a pair of overshoe thingys that don't fit over his boots properly, & his old Treo charger. Thank you! This was clearly All Wrong as it was *his* birthday not mine. :-)

Lost :-(

Have lost my nice silver ring, with the jaguars on. My parents brought it back from Mexico for me - jaguars, apparently, are for courage, over there - so it both has sentimental attachment, & isn't readily replaced. And I only got it mended after it broke just over a month ago :-( Somewhere between Farringdon & Bermondsey tubes... so I've submitted a report to London Transport, but I doubt it'll be found. Rings are a bit small, after all.

*sigh*

Other than that, today has been a tolerable day. But I am sad about the ring. I liked that ring. I guess my ring from Pete, or my 21st one, would have been worse, but still.
