Useful things, & FREE RASPBERRIES
Mar. 13th, 2004 04:30 pmToday I am being useful. So far I have uploaded lots of photos off the camera, eaten lunch (well, it's useful to *me), & done some gardening. Soon I will put some washing on, put more washing away, & clean the shower (argh).
Gardening involved getting rid of dead things (last year's tomato plant & basil plants. Not, however, the mint, which has Returned), moving other things around (the chives have made a miraculous recovery from being munched by something or other, & the rocket is now all in one big pot rather than scattered around), and planting out my just-arrived blackberry & raspberry canes. Cor. Am very very excited about this, even if they won't be fruiting till next year.
Which brings me to: FREE RASPBERRIES. I ordered a set of 5 raspberry canes from Suttons (they only come in multiples of 5), and that was going to be too many. However, Suttons have decided to send me 7. Which is generous of them, but leaves me with rather a surplus of raspberry canes. I'm keeping 3, I think
marnameow wanted 2 - so anyone for either of the remaining 2? They're currently in very *little* pots, which they need to be moved out of sharpish. They will grow in pots - 12" diameter by 12" deep required - so they can move house with you. Won't fruit till next year. Looking-after required: tie shoots to a cane/wire framework every so often, water regularly, prune back after fruiting season. Not terribly challenging. They're small and manageable atm (basically just a stick in a pot - not started much in the way of budding yet - so could be brought to a pub for handing-over. Note: I do not guarantee survival :-)
