Work, waves, wine, & windows
Mar. 14th, 2009 05:30 pmI have been outrageously busy with the Actual Working this week, but have nevertheless managed to go surfing twice. I am now progressing to "competent incompetence", in that I'm still rubbish but I know why I'm rubbish. I can even steer, a little bit, when not under stress; and standing up is happening reliably. I intend to drag myself out there early tomorrow morning (before the tide rises and/or it gets too busy).
Some nice chaps came and replaced the windows yesterday; unfortunately due to measuring error this all took rather longer than expected, ie eg viz about 9 hours. During most of which period nothing was actually *happening*; I just had a large hole in the wall, and someone was driving over from Parramatta with some kind of fitting. To be fair, though, their timing was excellent, in that they finished 5 minutes before I had to leave the house. (Although they did not clear anything up, bah.)
Once the flat was once more safely windowed-up, went out for dinner with
geekboyoz, to a veggie wine bar place on Crown St. They did things like Pad Thai Linguine, which while a deeply odd concept was bloody tasty. Lovely evening, although I fear after 5 full hours of editing, with people tramping in & out of the flat carrying pieces of window around, I was ever so slightly hyper...
Tonight I attempt to decide if I CBA going to a psytrance thing in Newtown. Upside: free, psytrance. Downside: Newtown, which is a whole 25 min by bike, as opposed to 5 min on foot like all the things that run in Kings X. Hm.
