Much busyness, mostly, especially at work (the nutter-emails build up when you're away for a week...)

Wednesday there was a london.crafts meet at the Crosse Keys. Beer, knitting, & splendid company: what more could one ask. Although I bailed a bit early when the chips suddenly made me feel a bit peculiar. Probably mostly just still being knackered from coming back from Saas Fee, but unpleasant anyway.

Friday I had the afternoon off, in order that my parents could take me for (belated) birthday lunch. We were going to go to Vinopolis, but the service even before we got as far as ordering at the bar was so horrendous that we went off in search of another location. Which we found in the Banana Somethingorother (Store, maybe?) just down the road. Very nice indeed. Drank quite a bit, as is customary at meals with my parents, & finally left about 3 hrs later. I headed up to Angel to meet [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth for a swift pint or two. After which I was of course nicely bouncy, only to get home, sit down, eat dinner, & become enormously knackered. The error was clearly in *stopping drinking*, thus allowing the dreaded Lull to hit. We *very very nearly* dragged ourselves out to Arjun's party, but then realised we'd missed one train, & the next one would mean only having about 50min at the party. So gave up, & I passed out on the sofa for what little remained of the evening. Feeling vaguely guilty but mostly just sleepy.

[livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth came round to visit yesterday afternoon, & we went for a wander up the river to the Mayflower (nice pub, near Rotherhithe tube). I insisted on sitting out on the rear decking, despite the chill, because you're suspended over the river itself & the view is great. Ben pointed out the anti-flood devices on the pub's back door (curses, should have taken camera & taken photos. Must get used to this 'digital camera' concept) - lots & lots in the way of nice solid metal doors, basically :-) I do like living this near to the river, although I don't go up there as often as I might. This spring... Showed Ben the remains of the manor house built by Edward III that sits by the Angel pub. Although sadly they're now talking about burying it again, because it keeps getting worn away by the local kids playing on it & chucking things at it. Bah. The statue of Dr Salter has been moved to by the Angel, as well. He worked in Bermondsey for about 40 years, from the early 1900s. One of the rare doctors of the time who was prepared to come & work in slum areas - sadly, his daughter died from scarlet fever, due to the fact that the family lived here. He & his wife were local councillors, as well, & got lots of the old slums rebuilt properly. And now there is a nice statue of him, and his daughter, and their cat, by the river.

[livejournal.com profile] shadow_jess's & my birthday drinking-ness. Which was very fine indeed, thank you muchly to everyone who showed up. I definitely like the Blue Posts. And it was good to see several people (like my mates from college) who I've not seen in ages. After a good solid few hours drinking, they kicked us out & we (well, those of us up for dancing) adjourned to Infinity to hear [livejournal.com profile] katstevens DJing. And very fine she was too (& also cheers for the guest-list-ness, Kat!). Bounced up & down lots - was only a shame that the place closed an hour early. Bah. Failed in the end to lure anyone back to Bermondsey who doesn't actually live here, but [livejournal.com profile] marnameow, [livejournal.com profile] sbp, [livejournal.com profile] ali_anarres, Pete & myself sat around for a bit drinking water & watching The Beastmaster (it has ferrets! Really cute ferrets! And it's a cross between Conan the Barbarian & Dr Doolittle. Absolutely fantastic, honest).

Today I have been shockingly lazy. Bit bad-head-ness earlier on, but it has cleared now, mostly. Got the one thing done that I *had* to get done today (for it is related to [livejournal.com profile] shadow_jess's birthday tomorrow), knitted a bit (Pete's jumper is now at the stage where I've put the sleeve stitches aside & am just knitting down the body, so it should start going faster now. And it *fits* so far & everything!), ate Indian takeout from a new & rather good place. Bed soon. Tired, & wish to get into work at 0830 tomorrow if possible.
