([livejournal.com profile] beingjdc - have been away in Liverpool, hence no update before - apologies)

Storm came home this afternoon, after being kept in the vet hospital overnight. She's better than she was, but still very weak and not at all a well rat. The abcess has bust right open - they've cleaned it out a couple of times at the vet. We've been given saline solution & other materials to clean it out ourselves twice daily until further notice (next appt on Tuesday), & her antibiotics have been doubled.

She's looking more chipper, though still very skinny & slow. She's grooming, eating, drinking, & pottering around her hospital cage (she's not to go in with the others as she's weak & probably infectious) - certainly she's looking more active than she did Friday morning. So - progress, but a long way from being out of the woods yet. Poor love - her side looks *terrible* :-(

Well, you don't owe me updates or anything. It strikes me as a fundamental weakness of rodent pets that you get a maximum of five years out of them, and tend to own several. I don't think my emotions would stand that. I expect a good dozen years from a cat, and feel two is an optimum number.

GIFT in the North, indeed. Luxury. Didn't happen in my day. *wanders off muttering*.
