Weekend

Last week was actually pretty productive at work. This is - possibly a little disturbing. Mind you, I have actually been utilising my brain somewhat (by, um, playing with perl rather than doing work for a little every day), so maybe that plan is working. We can but hope.

Thursday night was supposed to be Proms. But there was the Queue From Hell, so after we'd hung around for an hour or so it transpired that we weren't getting in. Which was a bit of a pain. However! Simon W took us to Imperial bar, where there was beer, so not a complete waste. Then I broke somewhat, Pete took me for pizza, & I abandoned my bike at South Ken because I was feeling too shitty to cycle home :-/ Not the best. (things are better now, after a little talking to folk & suchlike, I would add).

Friday I went to the Dovetail, where there was once again beer, on this occasion of the Belgian variety. Liefmans Frambozen++. Then onto BMovie, to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth & [livejournal.com profile] shadow_jess before they headed off to France first thing Sat morning. Music didn't seem quite up to scratch, though I have since seen the setlist & discovered that it got better from 1230 onwards. Unfortunately, I left just after midnight, due to needing to get up early the next morning. Bah.

Spent the weekend in Chichester at Pete's parents. Nice food, nice walk along the beach Sun am, stress over refitting of bathroom & subsequent water-related drippings (something to do with the shower tank overflow, apparently. I did my best to pretend it all wasn't happening, I must confess). Wandered over to [livejournal.com profile] marnameow & [livejournal.com profile] sbp's on our return (after doing The Evil Washing-Up & a little light tidying), & watched the first episode of Buffy Season 7. I am now *desperate* to watch all the rest, but am rigorously rationing myself, as now I have only 21 episodes left till it is All Gone. *sobs*

Today: work not so good. On the other hand, I finally got rid of the article I've been putting off finishing for the last 2 weeks. Tonight: pub with [livejournal.com profile] martling, dropped round Marna & Sean's again. Good to see Martin. Also [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth phoned, which was cool as I am missing him & [livejournal.com profile] shadow_jess something shocking. France, apparently, is v relaxing, which is much to the good.

One of these days I will write something interesting in here. Possibly.

Oh yes: anyone fancy curry at that place opposite the Royal Oak (in Borough) tomorrow, followed by BEER at the Royal Oak? Or possibly Wednesday, if tomorrow is bad for people.

And today's other question: why *is* it that I can't double the number of hours in my week just by wishing it so, hmm? Time should be more elastic and less fixed. This would make my life significantly easier. I am unimpressed by the rigidity of these "natural laws" I keep finding around the place. Although clearly as time is all an illusion etcetc, if I think hard enough that it *is* elastic, it should become so, no? I am obviously just not concentrating sufficiently.
