(no subject)

Some of my friends list may be interested in Warren Ellis asking for 200-word pieces of fiction from unpublished writers, which he will publish on his weblog tomorrow. See link for further details.

Cold is gradually disappearing, but being very *slow* about it. Growl. Back to cycling in this morning, though, as I'm not dizzy any more, but was much slower than normal (although it is entirely possible that I'm just lazy, rather than Still Ill). Had a nice quiet evening last night - drink with Elaine (friend from school who I don't see that often) after work, and discovered that things are going pretty well for her, which is good. Followed by an *enormous* bowl of pasta once I got home, sufficient knitting to cast off the top of my dress (need to do the straps now, then pick up round the bottom to knit a bit more cos it's not long enough), and a brief visit from the lovely kitty_goth on his way home from werk dinner. Then Pete woke me up around midnight coming in from poker, & we had a reasonably complicated & heated discussion about something that I no longer remember at all. I trust it wasn't that important.

Advantages to having blue hair #1: when going through the ticket barrier at Paddington for the second time in one day, the ticket inspector will ask for your YP card, then look up and say "Oh no, I remember you, that's fine".

Advantages to having blue hair #2: small children who go "Mummy Mummy, that person has blue hair! Blue hair, Mummy!" in overexcited tones and try to haul Mummy backwards to have another good look. (Mummy was, I think, quite embarrassed by this)
