Many things seem to have been happening, & I have been abjectly failing to mention any of them on here.
Work pretty busy atm, which is good in one way, & bad in that by the time I left for home last night I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. Thankfully, things have gone pretty well today & I seem to be rather better on top of the workload now.
Come Out 2Nite on Friday night was fun, although imo the top floor of Electrowerkz doesn't really *work* for an indie club. boyofbadgers, dogrando & I discussed why, but failed to come to any conclusions beyond "it's just the wrong *sort* of dive". Some good music, though (in that I actually danced quite a bit, hurrah!). Will continue, however, my search for tolerable London indie clubs.
Saturday Pete & I headed up to Oxford for the weekend, which was ace. Spent Saturday with dougsoccers variously eating sandwiches in Morton's, lying around on the grass by the Lake St outdoor pool (some people even went *in* the pool, though I couldn't be arsed & also was concerned about effect of chlorine on blue hair), drinking PIMMS in the Jude, having first dinner from Peppers (mmm veggieburgers), drinking BEER in the Jude, having second dinner at the Bombay, then staggering back to J-P & Kate's to stay up way, way too late drinking wine & ranting incoherently. Hurrah.
Sunday, I was a little hungover. And it was way too hot & sticky. Assorted London types came up to see Oxford, & we went to the park briefly for food, before being chased away by Too Many Wasps. The Pitt Rivers Museum thankfully had no wasps but instead many interesting things. Including the famous witch-in-a-bottle, the shrunken heads, an alethiometer, some interesting stuff about scarification & tattooing, & lots of textiles stuff which I will have to go back & see another day when it's not so damn *close* & headachey. Punting was planned, but due to lack of weather predictability we went to the Turf instead, although there was a breakaway punting party who braved the rain. Was all most pleasant, anyway, despite horribly enervating weather. And then on return to Bermondsey we had pizza, beer, & Rocky Horror, which was good.
This week I have mostly been having Quiet Nights In. Haven't been feeling at my most sociable. But I have got quite a bit of knitting done, & Pete & I have started watching the West Wing on DVD. Work going good - have been Getting Things Done, although this afternoon less so. Proms tonight (see other post), & seeing kitty_goth tomorrow.
In good news: I have NEW BOOTS (vegan DMs, ordered now before it gets to be autumn & rainy, though in fact for once Vegetarian Shoes delivered within a couple of days, rather than waiting a month), which are nice; and Pete tells me that the sweetcorn started flowering today. Shiny.
