Skating, and food, and videos
Jan. 27th, 2003 12:11 pmThat more or less summarizes my weekend.
Skating: at Marble Arch, with Wendy, which was fun. Although the rink was (unsurprisingly, really) a little small. Haven't been skating in ages. The rink was pretty empty to start with (we were there for the first session at 10am), but by the end there were increasingly large numbers of small children charging around determined to make you crash into them, so it was good to leave when we did.
Food: well, first of all I made large quantities of bubble & squeak for Wendy, Pete & self on arriving back at the flat after skating. Nice bubble & squeak. Then on Sunday afternoon, Pete & I visited Planet Organic on Westbourne Grove (nice food shop) & spent an inordinate sum of money. The trouble is, I so rarely go to the sort of shops that have exciting vegan food, that when I do, I massively overspend. Notable items on this occasion included:
- 2 sorts of vegan cheese (neither of them, it transpires, terribly nice, but OK on crackers in small quantities)
- Big pot of Yofu (which I like Very Much Indeed, but I knew that already)
- Oat milk (to see how it compares with soya milk)
- Tub of roasted seeds - 5 types of seed, with fennel & caraway. Bloody gorgeous. Enormously fatty, also, but it's good kinds of fat, honest. Well, it has to be an improvement as a snack on hula hoops, right?
Videos: and also DVDs. We rented "Kissing Jessica Stein" on Saturday night, which was OK although Jessica Stein was a bit bloody irritating, which didn't really help the film. And then there was Buffy (of course), and also Angel, which (am up to nearly-end of Season 2) is getting increasingly bloody ridiculous. But entertaining.
So. And this morning is being Busy - people keep phoning me, damn them.
