Today we have done Useful Things, to the tune of:

• Getting the gas meter refixed in the right position (OK, well, the chap just happened to turn up today, but still, good).
• Buying a sofa from Habitat, 20% off (& it wasn't even too horribly crowded, since we got there around 1030).
• Swapping in the wrong-size curtain rails (whoops, my fault) for the right-size curtain rails at John Lewis, & acquiring the remaining blind.
• Putting up the nice new blinds in the living room (hurrah!)
• First coat of paint in the hall.
• Painting the ceiling in the kitchen around where the old light had marked it.
• Decorators sealant stuff in the study.
• Putting up curtain rail & curtain in bedroom.
• Tidying up the 'orrible mess of tools in the cupboard-under-the-stairs.

So I am feeling distinctly competent and achieving-of-things :-) Now watching Morecambe & Wise.
