Have *cold*, bah. So am not in work, after attempting to get up earlier this morning & then bursting into tears and falling over. Of course, I feel horribly guilty about this - Puritan work ethic nonsense. Checking email from home, anyway, in case of utter disasters which I can fix from here (well, technically 'here' is currently St P, but I shall head back to Bermondsey after I've slept for another little bit).

SULK. Do not like being ill.

Just say no to the protestant work ethic and its contribution to the oppression of the proletariat!

hahaha what RickyT said! Also, i am still extremely snotty BUT gargling with some whiskey last night did my throat no end of good. It's probably best you're at home today anyhow, the tubestrike traffic is MAD.

Let yourself relax, have a kip, and gargle that whiskey (or whisky, whichever you prefer ;)) before bedtime!

Ginger wine sounds sensible.
I've also heard lemon juice and raw chopped garlic and ginger recommended as a gargle, I think... BICBW.

But Laphroig would be GREAT for gargling - it's the rortiest whisky evah and will kill all those cold germs DEAD! I'm sure P would let you have just an ickle mouthful - i mean i assume you'll be swallowing it as well so it wouldn't be wasted or anything! :)

Good luck with the cycling, dude...

Jack Daniels and Lemsip with brown sugar. You know it makes sense.

Yeah, I've read that there's some recent-ish research suggesting that people take slightly longer to recover if they take things like aspirin or paracetomol which reduce fever. Personally I'd rather take the aspirin and feel okay so I can do something more interesting than lying in bed: I guess that means I'm a workaholic or something.

I read a (tendentious but provocative) article recently which proposes that aspirin is actually a vitamin. Certainly whenever my myriad medical relatives get together, conversation will inevitably turn before long to the subject of what a wonderful drug it is.

(Gosh, I'm doing a lot of this posting at the moment. Stop me when it starts to get annoying.)

Ah well, yes, but at the moment being in bed simply isn't an option here, remarkably tempting though it is. Tell Pete happy birthday...
