Weekend

juliet: me all glittery and cheerful after I finished my Finals (finals)

Weekend has been busy, but largely in a good way. I'm feeling a little frazzled, though - probably just means that it's time to book myself another evening in on my own (the trouble is, by the time I feel I actually need this, I then have to wait at least another week to fit it in, by which time I'm *more* frazzled. A sensible person, of course, might start anticipating this & planning for it every two or three weeks. Hrm.)

Friday evening I was intending just to stay in & continue recuperating from cold (I still have little voice, & am a little sniffly, but feeling way better), but then P & I decided to walk across the park to see Shrek 2 at Canada Water instead. Which was *ace* and I'm very pleased we were non-lazy & went. Strongly recommended (assuming you're in the mood for silliness, of course, but it's *good* silliness) - made both of us giggle enormously throughout. The animation has improved noticably since the last one, as well.

Yesterday Pete headed off to go walking in Wiltshire (I couldn't go because my knees are insufficiently reliable these days to go walking places with other people), and I spent the day doing Useful Things, mostly garden-related. [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth came round around lunchtime, and was pressed into service following me round with the rubbish bag while I hacked at things with secateurs. It is now once again possible to get at the end of the garden, which is handy as that's where my lovely new compost bin will be going once it arrives. For the moment, there is a compost heap instead. Planted more carrots (as we've been KILLING AND EATING the old ones), more rocket, replanted a handful of other things, and generally got satisfyingly muddy. With dye & cling-film on my head throughout, I might add. Hair has now returned to lovely bright blue, from its Delirium-esque blonde/pink streaks look last week (don't buy Jerome Russell hairdye, kids, it doesn't even last past 2 washes. Their peroxide, on the other hand, is splendid).

In the evening, B & I headed down to Streatham for the [livejournal.com profile] ergotia/[livejournal.com profile] spikeylady/[livejournal.com profile] ciphergoth/[livejournal.com profile] lilithmagna poly housewarming & multiple celebration. And very splendid it was too - thank you for a fantastic party, guys! Met assorted people I've not met before, talked to people I have met before, had a very good half hr with [livejournal.com profile] spikeylady (who, as we all know, rocks quite copiously), overindulged in assorted things somewhat (but not *dramatically* so, so that's OK), bounced at more people... And then crashed splat around 4am, whereupon the lovely Jess found B & I somewhere to sleep, to my extravagant delight/thanks (btw, apologies to [livejournal.com profile] ajva, who we were talking to when I crashed - I didn't mean to be rude, my brain just rebelled on the spot & demanded sleep! Hopefully will catch up again soon...) Pleasant hour or two this morning, as well, chatting with assorted folk as they surfaced.

And today I have been recovering; and scrubbing mud off Glastonbury-things; and hacking down more greenery outside the front door; and doing laundry; and snoozing at intervals. Dinner is nearly ready, & there's a DVD from the library to watch with it, and a Pete to snuggle on the sofa with, not to mention the ratties. Contented Juliet.
