I was trying to locate a free alarm clock (countdown timer is what I'm actually after) for my Treo. Which I successfully did; but then discovered that it will seemingly only play alarms if the system tones are switched on. Having the system tones switched on means a little sound every single time you choose an application or whatever, & makes me want to kill things; so that's a non-starter. The alarm function on the DateBook works even with system tones switched off, I might add.

So: any of the Treo owners out there suggest a way around this?

I'm just guessing. But might it be possible to customise the system sounds to a 'silent' file so that they don't play after all but you still get the alarm?
