Right - I am ordering a couple of books from Amazon, & if I order another £5-worth, I get free shipping. So recommend me something! (books or music, don't worry about checking the price, I shall do that myself).

Seconded! If you have not yet read this you should do so at once. No excuses. Other things wot I have been recommending to people lately include anything by Philippa Gregory, Niagara Falls All Over Again by Elizabeth McCracken, and The Fourth Queen by Debbie Taylor. In music, the new REM album is quite pleasant, but I don't think it's been released yet.

Tongue First, £5.59, as lent to me by angelmine. V interesting.

"Testing the boundaries between fear and temptation, Emily Jenkins takes us on a journey from ordinary physical experiences (going to the dentist, putting on stockings) to extreme ones (snorting heroin, head shaving). She interviews people whose bodies are radically different from hers & enters communities where people share unusual ideas about physicality. Sometimes you will recognise your own habits. Other times you'll be shocked or repulsed. Always you will find yourself questioning the ordinary things you do, rethinking your relationship to your body."

Hurrah! Hope you like it, and I look forward to talking with you about it (I made [livejournal.com profile] katyha read it because I thought she'd like it but also because I was desperate for someone else to read it so that I could talk to them about it!)

SO SHALL WE REAP: What's Gone Wrong With The World's Food And How To Fix It, by Colin TUdge. V interesting about farming and all that malarkey, though i suspect you will either love it and be quite inspired (like me) or be a bit irritated. Books like this always seem to annoy friends of mine who have Proper Science Degrees, for example.

i do indeed, and you may as soon as i've finished the last 30 pages or so (which seem to be a repetitive summing-up of everything he's said in the book so far!!)
