For lo! I am Busy Juliet.

Spent Tuesday & yesterday evening round at NewHouse again (with Pete on Tuesday, & Ben yesterday), doing exciting things like sanding the walls, & removing the plug faces to get the last bits of wallpaper out from behind them. Think things are basically ready for papering, & ceiling-painting, at the weekend. I also did general-tidying-up at home, & dyed my hair blue again, last night, so that was good & efficient of me.

But I am absolutely knackered, & wish mostly to go to sleep. Mmm sleep.

Had my end-of-probation review yesterday, which all went fine, hurrah. Payrise, therefore, in next pay packet. This is a Good Thing. Although I have been told that work may want me to start going to Didcot a day or so a week for the next six months, in order to assist with instrument testing. I have pointed out that I have 0 background in instrument testing, that I have only GCSE Physics (& at that it was dual-award Science), & that in order to get me up to speed they will presumably have to stick a significant chunk of a physics/engineering degree in my head. This apparently was not necessarily considered to be that much of a drawback. Whilst learning about instrument testing might be interesting, I have less than no desire to visit Didcot once a week. It is a Long Way Away. I am optimistically hoping that a) someone will see sense on the whole 'not a physicist' thing (as Ben pointed out, not only do they spend time training me extensively, but they also use up the time of the competent person who would need to do the training), and/or b) I will only be needed for coding stuff, which I can do from here. I'm increasingly suspecting that you're only poly so you can have twice the Manly DIY Resources on call. ;)

Yes, I realised the lack of burly builder-ness in either case was a slight flaw in my theory...

Yes but think of the quality of the interior design!

Oh but phyics is fun! Physics is fascinating! do not recoil from being taught it. I'm sure Pete would agree... besides, 2005 is World Year of Physics (also known as Einstein Year) so its never been a better time to start joining in!

I have already tried to preach the wisdom of "Physics is fun, but electronics is electrifying" (remember that lecturer, Bea?) but she ain't buying it.

Remember it? I still have the notes bordered with these and other slogans in my "treasured memories" box.
