This week I have mostly been discovering that my productivity & motivation increases noticably when I manage to restrain myself from checking LJ until midday. I think there's something in there about setting the tone of the day, or something. I have also concluded that my FL is getting out of control again & will be doing a little pruning in a minute; so if I've taken you off it's not because I hate you, etc etc moo. (I know that one isn't obliged to *read* everyone on one's FL, but somehow I do feel obliged to. Although maybe I should experiment with a custom group called "I'm not going to read this". Anyway).

Had my second snowboarding lesson last night, which was once again much fun, although I was becoming highly irritated about halfway through when I spent bloody ages knowing exactly what I was *supposed* to be doing in order to turn from toe-edge to heel-edge (& indeed vice versa), but was incapable of actually making my body *do* it. Grr. Got the hang of it in the end, though, & am All Set for Saas Fee in a fortnight's time. Hurrah for snow!

Family dinner for my birthday (a bit belated due to over-full calendars) on Monday was lovely - Mum is, apparently, now fully converted to Indian food. Nice dates with both [livejournal.com profile] dogrando & [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth, although date with Ben, being last night, involved mostly us hurling ourselves down different bits of Xscape, & nearly falling asleep on the train on the way home; but nice to get time anyway. Most of the rest of the week has involved domesticity, of the moving books around & general Sorting Things Out variety. I have also finally started putting all my journal pages & souvenirs & whatnot from my US trip into some sort of decent form - a mere 6 years after the trip itself. Splendid.

Tonight I am off to Southampton for a date with [livejournal.com profile] angelmine, hurrah!

Similarly, I always make sure that the first thing I do is list a club. Because if I don't do that at the start of the day, I just fail to take it into account for the rest of the day, even though it is my actual job.

The trouble with knowing how to turn from toe-edge to heel-edge on the nice slope in MK is that when you get out to a proper mountain and get a nice instructor, you discover there are actualy many ways to do it, depending on snow conditions, speed and angle of the slope. Thankfully though, after a while and a lot of different slopes you kind of just /know/ what to do... until you end up on a heavily frozen crust which you thought was powder and discover just how much spring the tail of your board really has! *ouchie* Its all good fun though :) Enjoy Saas Fee!

Good luck with the Board School! I spent my first two days on the piste relying on 'Daffy' and 'Goofy', and never stopped being terrified of that moment when a proper turn moves your weight forward on the board, and it starts to race down the mountain.

Which is, of course, why I enjoy it.
