Healthy kids learn better shocker - but much more disturbingly, down the bottom we learn that McDonalds are launching the McCarrot. Help.

Last night Pete made baked cabbage & lentils, with a sweet potato & some brocolli, for dinner (& v nice it was too); and I broke my sewing machine needle. The two things are, I believe, unconnected. So far none of the sewing-machine-bit companies I've emailed have replied telling me whether or not they sell replacement needles for a 30-yr-old machine. Bah.

What kind of needles do you need? I'll have a look in my sewing bag.

I know my machine uses the Schmetz ones with no problem, but I have hazy memorys of there being 2 types of needles when I was younger, totally round ones and ones with a flat bit on the side. It may be that they've just changed the shape of the bit that slots into the machine a bit, so it suits both sorts of machines.

Mine definately have flat bits tho.

I think you only run into serious problems if you have a pre war machine.

You know you should change your needles after ever couple of projects, rather than just when they break, as they do tend to go blunt after a while.

McDonalds seem to be trying to copy Benjys at the moment, I walked past this morning and saw them advertising fruit toast.

They also have a disturbing cartoon advert on the cartoon network about kids eating well! Somehow it seems a little two faced...

The thing that scared me the most was the chicken mcnuggets kids meal advert. 'Now contains real chicken breast' says a small child joyfully. WHAT THE HELL DID IT CONTAIN BEFORE???

I'm betting on "mechanically recovered chicken flesh".
This is why I don't eat in McDonalds.
