Ugh :-(

Have spent the morning alternately throwing up, & lying in bed making pitiful meeping noises. I am really not keen on this being ill business :-( And have no idea whether it's connected with my current state of exhaustion/hormonal whatnot, or just a random coincidence.

Particularly fucked off because I'm supposed to be going to Oxford tonight to visit my best mate Richard, whom I've not seen for *ages*. I'm hoping I'll still be able to make it, but the customary "get completely ratarsed" tenor of our nights out is likely to suffer (I'll definitely be on the soda-&-lime). I'm feeling a bit better now, & have managed to consume a slice of toast, but I effectively now haven't eaten since lunchtime yesterday so am feeling exceptionally wobbly. Currently trying to convince myself that food is nice.

[sulks extensively]

This post brought to you by excessive whinging. And vomit. Nice.

Ugh.
Apparently that gastric flu thing that was going around before Christmas is making a surprise re-appearance. We've got a couple of people here sick with it.

Hope you feel much better soon. Try to drink as much water as possible to keep hydrated and also to keep your stomach acids diluted a bit.

Juliet kept from food = DISASTER waiting to happen, I fear. Plain brown rice is usually eatable, as well as toast. (Or so I have found.)

Being ill - not fair at all. And even if the hormonal stuff isn't causing it, I'm sure the exhaustion's helped the illness along. You are to get better now, because Robot says so.

Hope you feel better soon Juliet! Being ill is rotten - still at least you can open the window and let some lovely SUNSHINE in yay! :)

Sympathy on the illness front. *hugs* I find pasta is the best thing for when I haven't eaten for ages and know I need to eat something but still feel really icky... I guess it's just bland enough to get past the ick detectors.

And THANK YOU for the badger card! It's a lovely badger. And it's always nice to get Proper Hand-Written Letters. I mean, it's nice to get emails, too, obv (and, argh, I still owe you email, and I am being crap, sorry), but YKWIM. Thanks again. :-)

Currently trying to convince myself that food is nice.

Couple of squares of dark chocolate? Dried apricots? Tempt yourself into food with something that sounds nice and then worry about proper food once you've eaten and convinced yourself you're not going to throw up again. I don't agree with 'the eat something bland first' theory - if I'm going to throw up after eating, it doesn't matter what I eat, I'll be sick anyway, so I might as well eat something that's at least vaguely appealing.

Keep drinking - if you're finding that hard remember you can get sachets of oral rehydration solution (containing basically salt and sugar and flavouring (no idea if they're vegan, but I don't see why they wouldn't be)) that you can add to water. They taste terrible. Alternative is making your own up and I believe it's one teaspoon sugar and three teaspoons salt in 200ml water. Other alternative is drinking something fizzy like coke, but guess you might not want to drink something fizzy.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Have you tried some ginger tea? That can help with nausea.

*get well hugs*

You're the funniest sick person on the whole planet. This isn't good news for me trying to extend sincere hopes that you get better because you could have a great career as a comedian with these kinds of lines.

Oh, poor kitten, being ill is so miserable. I hope Pete & Ben are taking good care of you.... A speedy recovery to you.

(However, if the nice weather lasts next week, you can Legitimately Skive Off Werk and sit in the park going "Aaaaaaa")
