Knees are not fun, I should point out; there are definitely two distinct categories.

Anyway, have not updated in Some Time due primarily to being damn busy at work. This whole 'promotion' thing has its downsides (though, yes, I do actually *prefer* being busy); especially when combined with my exciting new working-8-till-6 regime (need to make up hours Monday-Thursday so I can go to college Fridays).

[yawns extensively]

So, on the topic of knees: finally got physio appointment last week (& saw him again this week). Last week was fairly depressing, as I was told that my knees are permanently screwed. Exercises to strengthen them should manage the pain (possibly remove - we'll see), but I have to do them for the rest of my life, & if I stop, the pain will come back. [sigh] FWIW, this is inflammation of the pad under the kneecap, secondary to hypermobile knees. However, this week was a bit more encouraging, partly as I'd had the time to process the concept of permanently damaged knees; partly because the nice physio (who is really quite cute) assured me that as long as I kept with the exercises, there's no reason I shouldn't go snowboarding again. (and hopefully, by extension, I can expect to maybe be able to go walking again. Hurrah). I now have exercises to start off with, & am booked in at St Thomas' Knee Class for 6 weeks from mid-October (a knee class. What a splendid concept).

[livejournal.com profile] marnameow & [livejournal.com profile] sbp. The Chef Salad is still ace (I can never bring myself to order other things, because it is just *so very good*); and they had vegan chocolate torte. Mmmmmm. [collapses into happy chocolatey vegan puddle] I may have drunk a *smidge* too much of the tasty wine, though. I blame Marna, she kept ordering more :-)

Poptimism last Friday was also Massive Quantities of Fun, even if we did have to get up ungodly early the next morning to visit [livejournal.com profile] dogrando's parents in Chichester. Where we acquired, among other things, about a dozen quinces (I have promised to make them into quince jelly for Pete to have in his yoghurt) & a rather nice carved wooden elephant.

Other things... Marna's & my JAM won 2nd prize (of 3) at the allotment produce show, talking of sticky sugary things. Go us. We won a whole 2quid. And [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth & I were going to see some poncey play or other (I think it may have been Sartre) but bailed owing to being a bit weary. So we had a nice night in chatting instead.

Tomorrow is my induction day at college; Saturday I am off to Bournemouth for the weekend *all on my own*, an event to which I am greatly looking forward.

Mine are hurting today. Bah. I put this down to the dodgy Mexican cigarettes.

I can definately sympathise about knees - mine have been damage in two different ways by martial arts over the years and so they tend to be tender every so often. Its worse when there are weather changes about to happen - my knees ache way more then. Tends to be rather painful if one specific spot on my left knee has any pressure on it; have to be careful about the trousers I wear as a result of that.

When I saw a GP about it I was pretty much told that I was already doing the right things, that the muscles around my knees were very well developed and to come back if my knees ever locked.

I'd be interested to hear what they teach you in the knee class you'll be going to.

But...Juliet isn't noticeably overweight. I suppose it would make the knee problems go away if she lost weight by amputating her legs above the knee, but that's hardly the ideal solution.
