Worried about Storm - her wound's gone all abcess-y again. She had a tumour removed a couple of months ago, it started healing OK, & then developed an abcess. Which the vet drained, gave her antibiotics, started healing again & then another one cropped up. So this time the vet operated & removed the lot. Massive wound resulted, poor love, which we thought was healing OK, but last night inspection revealed more abcess (lots of nasty smelly pus, poor Storm-rat, and she hated me trying to squeeze it out, unsurprisingly). It opened up properly this morning, which is good, but I'm v worried about what's going on. Pete's making a vet appointment for her today, so hopefully we can get her stronger antibiotics, and some antiseptic solution so we can flush the wound out daily.

Oh dear. I really hope it all heals up, poor little rat-girl.

Pete phoned from the vet. Storm is very ill & they're keeping her in today, to give her a little gas & clean the abcess out, then give her painkillers & lots of antibiotics & fluids, to try to make her feel better. She may well have to stay over the weekend so they can clean the wound out regularly :-( She may well have septicaemia by now, poor love, & the prognosis is not good.
