bike! and ill
Oct. 17th, 2006 01:50 pmBad news: I am Ill. (I have a sniffly cold/sore throat, bah). I am taking NHS & Dept of Health advice & staying home on the sofa in order a) to recuperate faster & b) not to spread my nasty germs around the place. Am feeling better than yesterday, mind, so plan to return to the grindstone tomorrow.
Good news: my lovely new bike arrived last week!

Isn't it lovely & shiny & blue? It was made specially for me (it's semi-custom build, i.e. the frame wasn't a custom job but the bike was built up from the frame, including paint-job, to my specs & size) & I love it very much indeed. It goes fast! First couple of miles were a bit scary (the weight distribution is v different from the Trek, which is a hybrid & has a much more upright position; and the steering is rather lighter) but I have pootled round the park & along the river numerous times now & am feeling fine on it now.
I do also still love the Trek, as well, mind :-)
(bah, I want to go cycling now but Illness prevents. [sulk] )

Date: 2006-10-17 04:17 pm (UTC)my current lighting is quite cunning - for a tenner Homebase (or the others too, I dare say) will sell you a '1,000,000 candlepower rechargeable spotlight'. Having bought one for legitmate purposes, I bought a second, threw away the torchy bit (keeping the bulb as a spare) but keeping the 6v 4Ah battery, and the mains & car chargers. Reboxing the battery gives you nice bright lights that stay on at junctions, with a nice easy recharging system... I'm assuming that could be recharged from a hub dynamo too, with a little more ingenuity.
