LJ housekeeping
Aug. 30th, 2008 09:05 pmI experimented with not reading LJ at all last week[0], & it seems to have been surprisingly good for both my Useful Things Done ratio & for my brain.
Given that the next 22 days are going to be insanely busy anyway; and that for 4 months after that my internet access will be between "minimal, erratic" and "none", I've done some LJ housekeeping, viz:
a) removing a significant chunk of my FL;
b) reducing my Default View[1] to a very very small subset of my FL.
Nothing personal & all that; current circumstances just not conducive to much if any reading. (I will be hoping to post while I'm away, but I anticipate that it'll almost all be public). In general, until at least January, best to assume that I'm not reading *anything* on here.
I know some people have Opinions about default view & reading vs not-reading, so feel free to say so and/or remove me from your own FL (comments screened, btw).
ION: the List is gradually shrinking; I've paid the deposit on the freighter from Melbourne-San Francisco (hurrah!); and my passport has made it from China to Russia, which is nice.
[0] Actually I wasn't reading at all, or attempting not to, but that's another post.
[1] Insert here the customary digression about LJ failing to distinguish between people-I-read and people-I-wish-to-enable-to-read-FL-posts. Default View is my way of managing this.
