I appear to have won a pair of picture-messaging phones from a competition in the Standard, or possibly Metro. This confused me briefly as I didn't remember entering any such competition, but I figured that I probably found it whilst websurfing. However, a phonecall from my dad then revealed that in fact I did not enter said competition; my mum entered it for me (Mum does this quite a lot, so I should have guessed).

Anyway. Although judging by the phones that marnameow & sbp have, they will be quite crap, nevertheless they are worth something like £500 each, & thus I can play with them for a bit then flog them on Ebay, hopefully. Though possibly I should give one to my sister, as Mum probably entered once for each of us.

This is all rather surprising. Good surprising, mind.

Congratulations. I have been put off this picture messaging palaver by virtue firstly of spending far too much money already, but also by the advert 'be the first with picture messaging'. Why? It's like being the only person in the world who can play three-dimensional chess. What good would it do...</obrant&rt;

They're probably not the 3 ones we have, but smaller, trimmer, useable GSM ones. What sort are they, do you know?

No idea. The woman said that they're worth about 500quid each, though. Apparently they're being donated by Microsoft. Basically I know nothing about anything, due to not having entered the damn thing myself :-) All I know is that it was a Glastonbury competition, & this is the runners-up prize (presumably the theory is that you can send photos of the bands to your mates or something).

Oh dear God. Are they the last of the Windows Phones that Microsoft could find no manufacturer willing to make?

If so, you have a collector's item there. Not worth 500 quid, but possibly price-tagged 500 quid.

They weren't picture phones, though, were they? I suspect that they're probably just mms gsm phones. And if they're something else they'll be *cute* and *odd* and strange.
