Dog!

dogrando & I have a DOG! His name is Finlay (it was Omar when he was at Battersea but he doesn't know that yet so we felt it was OK to change it).

He's a Battersea rescue, probably aged between 7 and 10, & probably an Anatolian Shepherd crossed with something else (or several something elses), possibly including some variety of labrador. He's incredibly laid-back, likes people a lot, and seems to be settling in fine, apart from a disinclination to eat his dinner (not unusual in the circs). Also he threw up on the kitchen floor, but, hey, there we go.

Photos! On the platform at Battersea Park station. (He was very well-behaved on the train on the way home, too.)

He's a bit bigger than we'd anticipated but the laid-back-ness makes up for it.

Yeah - I've been wanting to have a dog for AGES, but this is the first time it's been remotely feasible. (since I'm currently not working full-time at all :) )

Sadly I do not think that Finlay can DJ! But we can always try later (possibly *after* teaching him things like "sit" and "stay" and "get your nose out of the bin"...)

Yeah, I am already noticing a tendency to wish to stick his nose in everything & edible (or occasionally non-edible, e.g. tissues) items in his mouth :)

He is a very pro-people dog! And really does seem pretty sharp - he's fairly good at 'sit' already, is pulling at the lead a lot less than yesterday, and is getting the hang of 'back' (he likes to put his nose into things).

He did however whine all night when left downstairs... hopefully tonight he'll be a bit quieter!

That is indeed one of their main qualities.

(I like cats fine - I like basically all animals :) - but neither P nor I are really cat people.)
