Actual real book!
Oct. 12th, 2009 03:21 pmThe Book (Linux System Administration Recipes) is out! I have also received my author copies, which I am not entirely sure what to do with. But they are shiny, and one of them now lives on the shelf.
(Apparently it is not quite out yet in the UK.)

Date: 2009-10-15 03:42 pm (UTC)I'm afraid there's no *BSD-Linux phrasebook - I'm not terribly familiar with *BSD myself (kind of the opposite problem from you!).
FWIW, package managers pretty much go along with distributions; I use Debian or Ubuntu (which use dpkg or aptitude which is the semi-graphical frontend to dpkg) in part because I prefer their packaging system, which does intelligent things like picking up dependencies for you. RPMs (Redhat et al) don't do this; or didn't last time I looked, anyway.
