I have a shiny new phone, hurrah. It's a Nokia 8310 & it is *tiny* & cute.

Nice osteopath student person attacked my back for me. Some improvement now, although still pretty achey, but then if I *will* let things get that far... It should be better more tomorrow, & then I'm going back next week for a second session. I much preferred seeing the student, in fact, to seeing a qualified osteopath, because she & her tutor were discussing what was wrong with me & why, which was of course all v interesting (the short version: my back is fucked). They were suitably impressed by the horrible knottiness of my back/shoulder muscles. (bah, want a massage now).

Took bloody ages, though, & what with that & having to go buy stuff for tomorrow (teaching) (yes & did buy phone as well, admittedly), I wasn't able to fit in the work I was supposed to be doing at home this afternoon so will have to do it on Sunday afternoon. Bother.

I have a Quandary. I've decided that it might help for the kids tomorrow to be able to keep track of their scores in a couple of the games we'll be playing by using counters or similar, rather than just a piece of paper. But I couldn't find anything suitable in the shopping centre. I was thinking something like tiddlywinks or poker chips (except poker chips are expensive). Any suggestions for things I might have around the house that they could use? Otherwise it'll just have to be paper, I guess.

DINNER now. Haven't cooked anything in ages, it should be fun.

Ooh, is it an object of desire? I've just bought one (as in ~30 seconds ago) after some agonising over the 7210.

Do you not have millions of one penny pieces lying around like what I do? failing that, get some rice.

rice, pasta shapes, smarties, smartie lids, cut up cereal boxes, cocktail sticks, pennies, beads, beer bottle caps, buttons, bits of wool or material, paper clips - it depends on their age as to appropriateness

Beans. Then they can be beancounting. Not sure what sort, my knowledge of beans is usually limited to purchase in cans (where they tend to be wet) and throwing in tortillas with Stuff And Chilli Powder.

But you're vegan, I'm sure you know all about beans :-)

Hmm, have played checkers with beer caps, and assorted illicit substances, before. It's funny what you can make do with when you need generic tokens.

Works well, except that if you do well, you practically end up ODing. Kind of like an auto-handicap system really.

back stretches...

...worked wonders for me. No, honest, really - there's different ones for different pains, but really far better than massaging the muscle, which is more or less just squeezing it to encourage the bloodflow and the relaxation, and is never guaranteed to do much.

For upper back, sit on your heels on the floor, bend forward at the waist, and stretch your arms in front of you whislt pretty much getting your chin on the floor. Hold it for 15 seconds minimum (and *don't* bounce-stretch!!).

for lower back its harder to describe - might show on wednesday if drunk / silly enough
