(from
marnameow - cheers!)
1. If you had the chance to move forward or backward in time - permanantly - by yourself, would you? If you could take some other people with you, then would you? When would you go to, and why?
Um. By myself, no. I'd miss too many people, and to be honest I kind of like now. Even if I could take people, it's not something that particularly appeals, not if I have to stay there permanently. I mean, if I went backwards then there'd be no interweb, which would clearly suck :-) And since I don't know if forwards would be any better, & I like now well enough, I don't think it'd be worth the risk.
I'd go temporarily, probably, but that's a different thing. Or if I *knew* that there was betterness available.
2. How do you manage to not eat cheese? Is that what you most miss? Or do you lust for something else?
With great difficulty, that's how! Basically, because I don't need it, it's just a pleasure thing, & morally I don't think I should sacrifice lives just for something I enjoy (and dairy farming involves animals being killed, as it's done commercially). And as far as food goes, yes, it is what I miss most. Milk I have an adequate substitute for (since I only really used it for tea & cereal & stuff, & soya milk is fine for that), yoghurt I have a tolerable substitute for, eggs I went off before I went vegan (unfortunate incident with several undercooked hard boiled eggs which were all squishy in bits of the white *shudder*), meat I haven't been remotely tempted by in years. I suppose I do miss milk chocolate a bit, but not very much at all (Green&Black's dark organic solves the chocolate problem! and Bourbon biscuits are OK). Decent strong blue cheeses, or really really mature Cheddar, or feta... argh. I'm starting to miss it less than I did initially, though. Thankfully!
3. Would you be happier in a world where the moving pictures on the screen (tv, movies, videos) had never existed? Do you think the world would be better for that, or worse? Why do you think this? What would you miss most?
Um. I think probably no, I wouldn't be *happier* - there are some films & stuff that are worth watching. On the other hand, I'm not sure I'd miss it that much either - I'm not all that into film in general (you have to sit still for, like, 2 hours!), & I rarely watch TV. I would, of course, miss Buffy the most :-) Reading's better, though.
As to whether the world would be better - um. I don't like the "sit in front of TV watching anything that comes on" mindset that a lot of people seem to have, and I think things might be better without that - but then, if people choose to act that way... I don't really buy the "TV encouraging violence" thing, or not entirely, either. Can I say "pass"? :-)
4. If you were an omnipotent being for a day what would your priorities be? Why?
Institute world-wide socialism, the proper sort that works (look, am an omnipotent being, OK?). For all the customary idealist reasons, cos I think it would *help*. While I was at it I'd spread resources out properly first. And stop all the war stuff. Y'know, the usual.
I would also implement the long-discussed "two lane pavement" concept in London & Oxford (where you have the "actually going somewhere" lane & the "stop randomly in the middle of the street" lane). :-)
5. I have an urge to add a kissing question here. So, tell me about your first kiss, worst kiss, best kiss, silliest kiss, and favouritest kiss, please?
Trust you....
First kiss: Stefan Viggiani, on New Year's Eve 1992 (well, technically it was New Year's Day 1993 by then), at a sleepover at my friend Raph's house in Colchester. It was most enjoyable, as I recall :-) (also I'd had a massive crush on him for *ages*).
Worst: it'll either be one of the randoms I pulled when I was 17 and used to go clubbing regularly at Collide-a-scope (some very bad decisions made then!), but I can't remember anything specific; or an occasion at a New Year's party when a particularly drunken friend wanted a snog at midnight & was *not* at their most coordinated. I suspect the Collide-a pulls were worse, though, & memory has drawn a thankful veil etc.
Best: Gah, no idea, sorry. Lots of best kisses. Ones from people I really care about, basically, tend to be the best ones. The ones that make your insides go all fluttery, in a good way.
Silliest: I think scaring-people-on-the-tube definitely tends to the silly, though also quite a lot of fun! Kissing people upside-down (when your heads are opposite ways up, I mean) is always silly, also.
Favouritest: See best, in that I certainly can't identify just *one*. There's too many sorts of favouritest, as well. Is that cheating?
Anyone else want questions? (
beingjdc, I shall try to think of some for you)
