weekend excitements (& week ones)

This post has been hanging around half-finished since Monday. Whoops.
Went to Fabric on Friday night, with Pete, where there was a live set from Hybrid. Which was actually rather good. At least, it was once the music actually got good (i.e. approx when Ali B stopped & Hybrid started), & once I got over the first half hr of "help, this is not my club & these are not my people!", anyway. Nice to go out somewhere with Pete instead of both of us being lazy (& me being poor) & staying in.
Saturday we were terribly good & did Useful Things (cleaning out rats, clipping ratclaws, hoovering, washing-up, etc etc etc). Indeed, we did very nearly *all* of the Useful Things on the list, which was a bit impressive.
wicker_girl &
alabaster_ocean showed up whilst I was still in the bath recuperating & covering myself with glitter (whoops), but dealt with this admirably by digging into the Special Cake whilst waiting for me to appear & fulfill my hostly duties. A handful more people were collected between the two halves of Hotel Bermondsey, & we headed off to Stay Beautiful.
I cannot decide whether I liked SB in new venue or not. The music was *way* worse than the last time in the Islington Bar. The shininess of the venue was quite nice, but the room with the dancefloor was like a sodding sauna (because of the place being underground, I guess), & the seats are hugely uncomfortable. Um. Not sure. Might give it another go next month. Had a fun night anyway, due primarily to the excellent company, of course :-)
Sunday Pete & I took ourselves up to Camden to meet
kitty_goth &
shadow_jess for shopping. I didn't get anything (sulk), but Kitty & jess both got new boots, & jess spent far too much in Fairygothmother :-) (nb my corset *finally* arrived this morning, hurrah). Then to
mr_tom's housewarming, via the offy, which was top fun (the party, that is, not the offy. That was much as every other offy ever). Sat around in the garden drinking enormous quantities of wine & chatting to assorted persons.
Matters deteriorated somewhat when we went to locate
kitty_goth & discovered him a little the worse for wear. I should like to apologise to anyone whose toes I trod on during the process of hauling Kitty outside to the garden & back. And to thank those from whom I stole lovely calming cigarettes for self & jess. Together with a bevy of glamorous assistants (inc Pete,
mouseboks, Mr Wistow, & others) jess & I managed to get Kitty home again & put to bed. So then we decided to drink more. And lo! there was more fun. Yay.
Work has been busy. About to go to a meeting, bah. Saw the Matrix Reloaded on Monday, which was *fun* (lots of explosions! And swooshy things!). Went round to friends' for dinner on Tuesday & got pissed & had fun arguments & missed the last tube home. Sister's birthday dinner yesterday, which was nice (Mildred's in Soho is a good veggie restaurant, though sadly they'd run out of vegan apple & raspberry crumble, bah), & then went home & had a nice relaxing bath & went to bed early.
Tonight: the Proms with
kitty_goth,
shadow_jess, & Pete. Gallery, meeting outside Door 10 around 1900-1915, if anyone else fancies coming along. (hopefully it won't have sold out by then; jess & I can't make it earlier).
Tomorrow: BiCon, though I have to go to a meeting in Horsham (insert here rant about the bloody RSPCA) first, so won't be there till 1430 or so. Might be slightly nervous. Um.
