New job news is now public, having told my boss. Who was underimpressed, but nice about it. I am recovering from the guilt... But hey! New job! I only have 11 actual working days at the League left, blimey (Easter weekend, Whitby, Cornwall).

In other news, my carrot and basil seeds are sprouting, and the onions are all growing as well. Hurrah for green things. Had a nice lazy night in with Pete yesterday.

And Barcelona has banned bullfighting!

When I quit my first job, the relevant HR person looked like they were about to cry l-( (My then boss, on the other hand, knew in advance, told me not to let the crap upper management muck me about, and himself quit a month later.)

I always liked the solution to cruel sports Arthur C Clarke used in "Childhood's End (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0345347951)" where the audiences of bull fights felt the pain and terror of the bull when the first spear hit the bull; in the book people rapidly lost interest in blood sports when they felt the pain of the animal.

Good news, but not of great practical import: very little bull fighting actually went on in Barcelona - it's never been terribly popular, and the Bullring is more often used for rock gigs! I think the Catalans view it as a Castillian perversion.

Oh, indeed. But it's still a good start, & even one or two bullfights fewer per year is an improvement. I've been keeping a vague eye on this because of work, and it does seem that the tide of thought in Spain is starting to change - more and more people don't want bullfighting to continue. Hopefully this is the precursor to further bans elsewhere. (ever the optimist...)

Was good to see you on Monday - sorry for not emailing properly, but work's getting stupid-busy. I wish holidays didn't mean doing 5 days work in the 4 days before-hand...

Don't think they do that in Barcelona, do they? It's mostly yer rural villages that do that sort of thing, as I understand it. But I could be wrong - the League focuses on cruel sports over here, mostly.

Don't worry about emailing - am pretty busy myself, what with this 'leaving' stuff!
