Hurrah, the Orange site have Treos back in stock, & I have just ordered one. And sorted my transfer from TMobile as well (the why-are-you-leaving woman was surprisingly quick, although admittedly I just had to say 'cos I want *this* phone and you don't have it!' & she went 'oh well fair enough'). ShinyPhone should arrive in the next few days; and phone number should switch over within a week. Must remember to copy everything off my SIM first, mind, or I shall lose Many Numbers. At least I can put it all in the *current* Treo, and then copy it across to the new one when that arrives.

(nb this is Legitimate Expenditure honest, owing as how a) the current Treo is dying a death & has taken to randomly stopping responding to keypresses till I talk to it sternly & hit it a bit, & b) I will be saving around a tenner a month or more on the new Orange plan)

Also have had productive day at work learning about XML::Simple. Proper update about actually exciting things to follow at some point, honest. I just keep being busy *doing* the exciting things, this is the trouble...

You understand I will be playing with your Treo in order to confirm to myself whether or not I want one?

Er, well, there's SB, I know you're probably not going, but I imagine I'll come down. Obviously this weekend wherever I am you're not, unless by some chance I end up in Cambridge.

pssst - give me a shout when the old treo is well and truly retired, unless you've had better offers for it's future...?

The Treo 180 does seem a bit daft - you can copy across SIM card numbers to the quickdial section of the contacts list, but not the main info section...? Or am I missing something?

well. parts/experimentation - having been inside mine (when the earpiece died) I'm happy about the magnet thingy problem, and wanted to see what could be done to make it work elegantly at least with the hands-free kit. What happens to it after that...? Mine will break one day, I know, and if there's the opportunity to play with one beforehand... It all depends on what you want to do with it, really. It could be tidied up with a sharp knife and just used as a PDA very easily. Feel free to think of a number...

You could always use the method I used to get the numbers across; transfer the numbers into the Treo contact book and then just copy that database across.

The charger and hotsync cable from the Treo180 work with the Treo600 as well which is handy.
