So. I have mostly been being busy, in a good way, this week.
Monday night I had a date with
spikeylady. Who was, sadly, feeling a bit rough. But we had nice dinner out on the terrace, anyway, and a good chat, and then went downstairs to watch Aliens with the other denizens of St R. Was lovely to see her (& indeed the others), & had a nice relaxing evening.
Tuesday was london.crafts impromptu pub meet at the Bricklayers Arms, i.e. beer & knitting & pleasant sociableness. And
kitty_goth took me for CURRY round the corner, as well, for he is nice & feeds me food. Mm curry. And then we went back and drank more beer, & in Ben's case, went home early due to extreme tiredness, poor love. Pete, Marna, Ali & I staggered back to Bermondsey rather later, whoops.
Last night Pete & I went to see 'Before Sunset', which is rather good. Classic Richard Linklater, I am informed - this seems to translate as lots of long shots, monologues, etc. It's very talky, and low-key, and has a nice ambiguous ending. Cannot be bothered doing proper review.
Today I have mostly been learning XSLT, courtesy of a v useful book
marnameow lent me. I have also discovered why the thing I was doing didn't work. It is not because I am dim; it is because XSLT translates "@text" (or "text", I think) in a match pattern as meaning a text node, not an attribute or child element that happens to be called 'text'. So you cannot sort on such elements. Grrrrr.
Have successfully dragged myself out of bed early to walk round the park every morning this week that I've been at home. Go me. It seems to be a Good Thing. As does returning to cycling, which I was horribly lazy about last week. Lunch in Ken Gardens, rather than at my desk, also seems to make the afternoon run more smoothly. This isn't *really* surprising, but it's good to be reminded of. I have found a lovely friendly tree at just the right angle to lean against whilst eating/reading/knitting for half an hour. This makes me happy.
I have also been having other thoughts about how my life is running currently, and things I want, and so forth; but right now I want to go home, so I shall.
