On the way down from Islington to work this morning, idiot taxi driver decided that the Thing To Do was to pull into the bike lane in front of me & stop dead. Thankfully the new bike has good brakes, so there was the squealing of said brakes & the skidding about a foot sideways, but not the actual ending-up-in-bumper-of-taxi. Bah. *And* I caught every sodding red light between Islington & London Bridge, as well.

In other news: want to go home now. Sulk.

I tend to cycle right at the RHS of cycle lanes, or even just outside them, which makes my presence a bit more obvious, avoids car doors (in the case where you have road|cycle lane|parking bay|pavement) makes it easier to pass obstructions (parked cars, people stopping suddenly, careless pedestrians, slower cyclists) by moving a bit further right.
