dogrando & I are now the proud owners of this house here, having just had a phone call from the solicitors to say that we've completed.

Gosh. House!

This does of course mean that we are now in hock to Nationwide to the tune of An Unfeasibly Large Sum Of Money, but No Matter

Yesterday evening was rather entertaining: P & I met up at TCR to go looking at sofas & beds. We discovered that this was the Correct Night to do this, as both Heals & Habitat were doing special Xmas shopping nights involving free wine. Heals' free wine was really rather nice, as well. Sadly, their sofas are really rather expensive, boo. Then went for dinner at an average Thai somewhere around there, then returned to Heals to pinch more free wine & inadvertently bought a nice clock for the kitchen. And then I smashed my wineglass by accident & we concluded it was time to leave. There was an *enormous* queue of people waiting to have books signed by Gordon Ramsay. Weirderers.

And then we went to an Adaadat night at the Scala, where there was weird electronica, & 2 splendid & somewhat overexcitable Dutch gentlemen playing silly things. Then some dodgy rapper types (rap with bleepy bits) came on & we fucked off to catch the last tube home.

We looked at JL during our Epic Shopping Trip on Sunday, & they didn't have anything that met all of the following criteria:
* 2m or more wide
* non-leather
* around 700 quid or less
* having of non-curvy arms.

Wanting a Large Sofa makes life more difficult, it has to be said.

I know you said you don't like them, but IKEA have sofas that meet these criteria, I believe. Some of them are sofa beds, too.

I did have a look online, but didn't see anything that we liked (don't want a sofabed - we have a spare futon whatnot for the spare room).

Well, you may or may not like them, but there exists NIKKALA that meets your spec, also LILLBERG.
EKTORP appears not to meet your specification if that's what you mean by curly arms.
Their 3-seat sofa selection is smaller than I thought, unfortunately; going round the shop shows loads of sofas, but I realise now that they are mostly 2-seaters and about 1.80m wide.

Ah, NIKKALA is new since I looked a couple of days ago, & does look potentially acceptable (though irritatingly I can't find the sofa covers online so can't find out what other colours they do it in) - shall bear it in mind, thank you!

LILLBERG is only 188cm wide, & yep, EKTORP is curly-armed.

NIKKALA is shown in the paper catalogue with a white cover, so your choice is at least red or white (slightly creamy actually, the white of raw cotton).
I think you'll have to resort to the telephone to find out the complete range of colours.

IIRC, when we got ours there was a choice of three fabrics, and each of them came in about seven or eight different colours. Some of them were hideous, but there were enough OK ones to choose from. That might vary from sofa to sofa, though.

They also might stock more sofas than they list on the website? Have you got a catalogue?

Other thing that sofas Must Have - legs that are stable.

My sister lives in something very similar in Hackney, they seem to be fairly good buildings. Beware of being hit for loadsamoney for roof repairs and similar, though.

Hurrah for house!

Hope to still make it down to help you guys tomorrow, but atm, my cough is rotten (I've had at least 3 people comment on how like a smoker's cough it is), and if it's still like that tomorrow, my duvet will not be releasing me. Will ping you to let you know either way in the morning, if that's ok?

Absolutely fine! Definitely don't push yourself if you're not feeling up to it - having a decent rest & letting yourself recover is much more important!
