Moving house...
Dec. 20th, 2004 01:16 pmPhotos from this weekend (index continues to be here).
V tiring weekend indeed. Much box-moving on Saturday. Cheers to
kitty_goth,
ali_anarres,
daneel_olivaw, &
ejde for assistance, & especially to
boyofbadgers who went Above & Beyond The Call & spent the entire day carrying boxes around, and getting things out of the loft, and putting other things in boxes, and deconstructing furniture, and generally Rocking Quite A Lot.
Then we had beer & pizza. Mmm beer and pizza.
Yesterday Pete & Dad got on with more kitchen-construction. The worksurfaces are now cut, and it is actually starting to look like a kitchen! I am quite unreasonably excited about this :-) The gas got finished on Friday, as well - he needs to visit again to do the final connection of the hob, but all the difficult stuff is done. Hurrah. I did more gloss-painting, and moved boxes/furniture around a lot (in order to clear the living room & bedroom) so that the nice bamboo-floor-people can put down the nice bamboo floor today), assisted variously by
spikeylady,
ergotia,
ciphergoth,
lilithmagna,
marnameow,
katstevens,
sbp, & my mum. Progress was made, & I demonstrated an impressive quart-into-pint-pot fitting ability when it comes to putting all of our belongings in a very small space (i.e. about half of the house). The spare room is completely unusable atm, mind.
The rats appeared somewhat discombobulated by the move, but have calmed down now.
And the nice bamboo floor people are laying the floor AS I TYPE, hurrah. Which is obviously v exciting. [bounce]
Feels slightly peculiar as we don't actually *live* *anywhere* atm - we are camping out in Webster Rd because there is a bed & a functional kitchen there, but all our possessions are in Marden Square, which now looks like a cross between a building site and a refugee camp. However, we should be able to move in the living room furniture (bookshelves, CD shelves, stereo, temporary sofa, etc etc) tonight; the bed arrives on Wednesday; and the beanbag sofa whatnot will be with us before Thursday :-) We plan to Actually Move In on Wednesday, thumbs crossed. So things should settle down a bit then.
Can I go to sleep now?
