juliet: "None of your goth nonsense" (goth nonsense!)
[personal profile] juliet
I DJed at Polyday a couple of weeks ago, & much fun it was too. (Sadly didn't make the daytime bit, but it sounds like it all went splendidly).

Setlist (the brief was "Popular alternative from the last 40 years"):

The Breeders - Divine Hammer
Strawberry Switchblade - Since Yesterday
The Jam - That's Entertainment
James - Laid
The Buzzcocks - Orgasm Addict
Arctic Monkeys - Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor
Pixies - Debaser
No Doubt - Just A Girl
The Smiths - Panic
The Primitives - Crash
Elvis Costello - Oliver's Army
Franz Ferdinand - Dark Of The Matinee
Ian Dury - Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick
Transvision Vamp - Baby I Don't Care
The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch
The Clash - London Calling
Pulp - Do You Remember The First Time?
The KLF - 3am Eternal

(thanks to [livejournal.com profile] d_floorlandmine for transcribing the setlist, which I totally forgot to do due to an unexpected 'quantity of wine consumed' incident...).

Most effective floorfiller: Baby I Don't Care (it is indeed a fantastic song). Though there was dancing throughout (hurrah).

In other DJ news, saw Phil Hartnoll (aka The Nice Norbital Man) at Seed Records' Soviet II thing last weekend. He is a better DJ than what I am, & also plays bleepy things & not things with guitars etc. Brilliant set, & he played a handful of Orbital tracks (inc Chime, which caused much in the Happy Grin line) & Dr Who. And put on his shiny torch headgear for the Orbital tracks! I was knackered & rubbish & headed home after he finished at 2; [livejournal.com profile] dogrando, [livejournal.com profile] marnameow, [livejournal.com profile] bluedevi, & [livejournal.com profile] uon stayed rather later & confirmed that it all continued most enjoyable. Also encountered [livejournal.com profile] mouseboks which is always a good thing.

Other than that, I have finished the jumper I've been knitting & it seems to have come out rather well (substituted Rowan Calmer, in a nice mid-blue, for wool as it's the only vegan yarn I could think of with decent resilience for the cabling to work. Had to go up a couple of needle sizes & knit a size up, but it's worked fine). And I have been being Tired.

Not at Whitby this time; currently in fact I am sat on the sofa surrounded by rats (Rowan is climbing on the keyboard & says hello). Poppy has had op for an abcess & it hasn't removed it altogether :-/ any thumbs available for crossing for her further recovery welcome. Poor ratgirl is currently spending her days in the hospital cage, which is v boring for her.

Now: bedtime. Bloody knackered.

I have Plans for this weekend; some of them involve actually taking my lovelynewbike for a proper ride. If the weather's anything like, anyway.
