juliet: My old PowerBook in pieces all over the desk (tech mac insides)

Lots of new things, the last week or so:

I have acquired both a lovely & VERY VERY TINY blue! iPod shuffle. It is, seriously, unbelievably small. I love it very very much indeed. I also finally cracked & got myself a Treo 680 after a) my flute got sold (so have cash) & b) the 600 turned itself off of its own accord 3 times in a row. Which is irritating (& previous experience indicates that this means it will put its little feet in the air altogether Real Soon Now). 680 is v shiny but battery life seems a little dodgy & there are a couple of other niggles that I am in the process of sorting out.

On Saturday the lovely [livejournal.com profile] uon & I went to Neal's Yard to learn to do back massages. Which was v much fun indeed, and I strongly recommend the class (their one-day intro to massage one). We also got to make our own aromatherapy oil blends, which was fun. It is hard not to have a nice day, really, when one spends it alternating between rubbing someone, and being rubbed, with nice smelly oil. And there were almonds to eat, which I liked. I may have to revise my "not liking nuts" thing.

After that we stopped off at CCK for tea, coffee, & chocolate cake. And I tried doop's coffee (after being told that it was coffee that people who don't like coffee quite often like) & I liked it. Rather to my surprise. So I drank some more of it, & discovered that my caffeine tolerance is approx 0. doop & [livejournal.com profile] clockworkwasp laughed at me bouncing off the ceiling, but I did not mind due to being, er, quite bouncy.

Then off to the earth birthday dinner, which was as ever most enjoyable, & lovely to see various people. Also I drank too much red wine, but usefully did not end up hungover, god knows why.

Spent Sunday firstly having long lie-in, then pottering during the afternoon while [livejournal.com profile] dogrando & [livejournal.com profile] marnameow went to the wilds of Colindale to forage, then having pizza & beer with Bermondseypeople. Finishing the "new tasty things" hattrick: [livejournal.com profile] nou had pink wine, and it was nice. I am most confused by all this; my tastebuds have obviously done something peculiar.

I think that is all. Work is being an arse (rack problems, install problems, blah blah) but hey, tomorrow is Friday so it can't be that bad.

Rubbing with oil. Ick. Just me then.

If the oily thing bugs you, try massage bars, which are also harder to spill everywhere.

"Massage bars" should be bright places on the High Street next to the coffee shop where you can go for a quick backrub. Like massage parlours but without the seclusion.

(I am a fan, though - much less hassle and mess than oil. Not quite as much fun for special occasions, though.)

Almonds are not strictly nuts, so you might get to keep your thing.
