Cold still here. Well, by now it has degenerated into cough, painful lungs (I do not like not being able to breathe properly), sniffliness, etc. Think the temperature has mostly gone. I have concluded that it must have been 2 colds in a row, rather than one that got better then worse again. This is all most unpleasant; I can't *remember* the last time I was ill for this long.

Discovered yesterday that I am, apparently, allergic to pseudoephedrine (a decongestant that they put in super-extra-strength Lemsip). It breaks both my internal thermostat, & my brain. Nice. Sadly, it took me 3 doses to realise this, before I turned up to meet shadow_jess & kitty_goth in a complete state & they went "what have you been taking?!" at me. Oops. Well, these things are useful to find out, I suppose.

Nice evening with the lovely shadow_jess last night, despite my cold-afflicted state. "Bring It On" continues to be a top film (cheerleaders! Faith-out-of-Buffy in a short skirt! Hurrah!). Back in the office now, after working at home yesterday (arrived in office, had coughing fit, boss immediately not only agreed to my working from home, but nearly threw me out of the door). Bah. Working from home is better.

Ah, psuedoephedrine - legal speed.

Your internal thermostat may be broken because of you being flu-ey, of course, rather than as a consequence of the medicine.

Well, 3 times in a row, for about an hour after drinking the Lemsip, I was absolutely *boiling* - heavily sweating, that sort of thing (& when Ben checked, I was hot to the touch, as well). Then it wore off. Since paracetamol is supposed to reduce a temperature, & when I've had regular Lemsip over the last few days that part of it has worked fine, I'm working to the conclusion that it's the pseudoephedrine that was causing the weirdness. (& the broken brain was *definitely* peculiar - random weeping & conviction that everyone hates me, which again hasn't been a symptom of this cold until yesterday).

Anyway. I feel the sensible thing is probably to stick to other sorts of decongestant, on current evidence :-)

Yeah, that particular medication is the one that has the whizzy scary effects on me, and also impacts a whole order of magnitude more severely on barrysarll.

Anyway, er, recover and stuff, and then we can go to Stay Beautiful. Also are people doing B-Movie? I may make plans if they are, but it will clearly involve an adventurous Friday.

I only took one of the Sudafed, though, & at that stage I was feeling so unbelievably crap anyway that I wouldn't have noticed one way or the other. Not to worry, love, it was enormously lovely of you to buy me, like, *all* of Boots, & look after me, & stuff!
