Evening Primrose Oil innit! Primary purpose = to prevent me from having hormonal meltdown, which sadly otherwise is near-guaranteed on a monthly basis (although not *actually* over Glasto weekend; still, better safe etc etc).

I've been thinking about packing too (it seems to build up the anticipation!). Yesterday I went out in the pouring rain in my waterproof jacket and found out that it actually leaks like mad. Nice to know that in advance! I think I shall replace it with a Blacks kag-in-a-bag that folds up very small and has big hippy flowers on it.

Are you bringing wellies?

I will almost certainly just bring my decent hiking boots (which are waterproof to ankle level). If it gets bad enough that those aren't enough (c.f. 1998...) then it's probably time to think about going home anyway :-\

Wellies are just 'orrible uncomfortable to be stomping round in all day, IME. But definitely some variety of decently waterproof footwear to be recommended!

Yeah, proper boots >> wellies, IME. It's probably worth noting that standard 8-hole DMs don't count as proper boots when it comes to the muddy crunch. They're OK if it rains a bit, but don't really stand up to the sort of puddles you get in a bad year.

Of course, all this boot talk is strictly hypothetical, because it's not going to rain this year.

Must buy a chair. And decide how crazy I am, viz. what camera I am bringing.

What is the train plan?

FWIW I will probably bring my decent but smallish digital. It is insured, & I'd rather cart it round all the time than faff with disposable or whatever.

Train: the London train-going people have tickets for the 11.05 Paddington -> Castle Cary on the Wednesday (arr CCary 12:39, so onsite prob about 30min - 1hr after that). I thought you said you'd be going down direct? (so, er, do not have train ticket for you. Though prob not too late for you to get one for that train; alternatively there are the specials that get put on, as well.) Going back it doesn't really matter what train you book on as they just chuck you on the first available one out once you reach the station anyway, to get you out of the way.

Okay. Yeah, I think it makes more sense for me to go direct, but I will be coming back to London as I have to catch a 6:30am flight to Cork the next day, joy.

Any chance of sending my ticket northwards? I will pay for whatever fancy postal service seems safe enough.

On Monday it is possible (probable? I'd certainly prefer to do it this way again) that we'll be catching the first train back (i.e. at 0500 so offsite around 0300) to London. Thus getting back to London about 0700 so can go to sleep for a few hours, get up, unpack, & go to the pub, & then get a proper night's sleep on Monday night. Which should help with the Cork flight...

Ticket: yes, sure. They're not here yet, though. I would suggest some variety of registered post.

The boring and sensible thing would be for me to bring my Casio, assuming I get and fit the replacement LCD I've ordered for it in time. But I suspect that will lead to an awful lot of "argh, wish I had the Nikon" moments.

NB chair is not really necessary unless you have dodgy knees (like what I do, bah). Something to sit upon is prob more useful, in general. Chair is a damn nuisance to carry about unless you actually need it :-\

I did find the chair both a terrible nuisance, & a v useful thing, at one & the same time. I think if it wasn't for the fact that I have such difficulty standing up for any length of time (& that sitting down can also be tough!) I wouldn't bother.

I had the chair with me last Glade & didn't use it at all, because it was nice & dry so we could put the blanket down & lie down etc etc. The problem is if the ground is damp your options are more limited (can't move around so much because dry bit protected by sitting-upon thing is smaller!).

Bit of groundsheet probably a better bet than just carrier bags IMO. I still have a free sit-upon thing that Orange were giving out a couple of Glastos ago which is v useful (it's a metre or so square).
