Nov. 20th, 2003 11:37 amFinally back to cycling to work again, as the evil bronchitis appears to be mostly vanquished. However, it transpires that 10min on a bike now reduces me to exhaustion. Bah.
And on the subject of illness etc - finally registered myself at the doctor's yesterday, & discovered that my blood pressure was at 85/50. The nurse couldn't get it to show up at all on her special machine & had to go back to taking it manually with a stethoscope. Then she looked at me a bit funny & asked if I felt faint. My blood pressure is normally pretty low (105 over 70 or thereabouts), but not normally quite *that* low. Still, as long as I don't start passing out, I gather it's not really a problem.
Things I have been up to. Did manage to catch up with
kitty_goth &
shadow_jess on Sunday, & a v fine afternoon was had, including meeting
boyofbadgers,
simonb & other folk in the pub/at St P, & there being pizza. Had my first rehearsal with new orchestra, EC4, on Monday, which went pretty well - they seem like a friendly lot. And then nicked off to the Royal Oak for a fairly quiet, but fun, version of TM pints.
Tuesday evening
kitty_goth,
beingjdc,
atommickbrane & I went to see the truly wonderful Philip Jeays at the Drill Hall. And lo! he was again truly wonderful. Despite not doing Mas de Baigne Loup, or indeed Midnight in Trieste (though he never does that). I did like Richenda, which I'd not heard before, & a couple of other new ones. And we did get Terry's Dog, Geoff, & A Younger Mr Jeays.
kitty_goth &
atommickbrane both liked, as well, which is clearly a good thing. Would like to go to the barge gig on the 1st, but I have a rehearsal, bah.
Pete & I went to see Intolerable Cruelty last night, which was good fun. Not exactly the Coen Brothers' bestest ever, or anything, but most enjoyable. And there was a truly superb moment towards the end which got the biggest (not to say longest) laugh either of us have ever heard from a cinema audience [avoids spoilers...]. George Clooney & Catherine Zeta-Jones both v good.
Been feeling scratchy lately. Twitchiness. It comes and goes a bit, but it's been here most of the week. I am unimpressed.

Barge gig
Date: 2003-11-20 03:43 am (UTC)Oooooh.
Missed the Drill Hall because a) skint b) not too keen on the venue and c) clashed with The Cling, but that's tempting.

Sounds pretty good for your long-term health, too!
