(One of my 101 things is to listen to & review some old albums.)
I was kind of surprised to find this on the laptop; if you'd asked me, I'd have sworn that I hadn't listened to it since, ooh, about 1997, but I guess I must have done.
It's still fun -- they sing about going to a brand new planet! And kewpies who like watermelon, about which I still go WTF! -- but basically what we have here is the same song x 13. It's a nice bouncy song with lots of scrapy/clangy guitars, but there's still only one of it. Also, they totally sound like Ash, except with fewer tunes.
I do like Phasers On Stun, though. At least, until the bizarre bit in the last 50 seconds where it turns all hello-we-are-shouting-into-a-dustbin.
Then I thought, oh, I quite like Plastic Ashtray as well, and skipped to that. SAME DAMN SONG. FOR SERIOUS.
Now I have a peculiar and nearly uncontrollable urge to listen to Bis. And Ash, come to that. (Except, tragically, it turns out that I do not have either the first Bis album, or 1977, on here! Noes!
dogrando, are you reading this? Can you send me MP3s? (NB Social Dancing, which I do have already, is the second Bis album, and is worse in some ways and better in some ways.) Actually, I'm not sure we have 1977 on CD so maybe I need to do the iTunes thing. Is it morally justifiable to locate a free download when you've already paid for an album but on tape?)
