Porridge in the morning fills you up really quite impressively (& is wheat-free, you see, hence fitting with the whole 'detox' thing). But it is a bugger to wash off the saucepan. This is about the one thing for which I'd like a microwave in the kitchen.

Hummous, lentil sprout, & watercress sandwiches on half-rye bread (shop sold out of 100% rye) are v nice indeed. More lentil sprouts on the way, also alfafa.

Having lunch with [livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth in the George (except I didn't eat anything, due to having had too many chips this week already, really, & also the above-mentioned sandwiches waiting for me) is a very good thing.

Have concluded that I'm not going to [livejournal.com profile] katstevens' gig tonight (sorry Kat!) due to a) being broke (door charge), b) being broke (transport - cannot cycle as it's not my bike to leave around in Brixton), c) being knackered & d) not feeling at my most go-out-y generally. Was hoping to go bother [livejournal.com profile] marnameow, but she is busy, sadly. So, night in on my tod it is (Pete is out at another gig). Anyone at a loose end who wishes to come to Bermondsey &, er, watch me knit (note, I can talk & knit simultaneously)? Also you can play with the rats.

I feel that I should have something to *do* tonight. Like, other than knit. Maybe I should do some coding, but I'm not sure my brain is up to it. Maybe a *little* coding. I feel generally a bit - untethered, maybe.

Work is being busy, & I am being useless. I want to go home now, please.

Man, I love porridge, I really should start eating breakfast.

Actually, I'm at a loose end tonight too, I am pretty tired and don't feel like going out meself but I certainly wouldn't mind doing some of the old crochet and watching dvds or something if you fancy it?

Aye, I can probbly do that with nae harm - up to leaving the house enough to find me at the tube station though, I have forgotten where your house is again - all Bermondsey looks pretty much the same to me! What time? Although Sunny Peckham is close to you, the transport can be a fag if timed incorrectly :)

NB I am going to pop to the shops for DVD shopping so I might turn up with all sorts of crap, hurrah.

Do you want to make it sevenish actually, if that's not too early for you? As this way I can leave work, pop round the shops and bimble straight over, without the hassle of bashing through the crowds to get home, pick up crochet and battle back out again - I think I am just too tired to face a double whammy of rush hour travellers! I might have to pop to John Lewis to pick up emergency crochet supplies though - how harsh...

Beware: one of the DVDs I'm planning to get is Finding Nemo (it's GRATE)!

(stew = marvellous btw)

I think if I was at a loose end I'd be worried about getting too close to somebody who was knitting, in case they knitted my loose-end-ish-ness up into a scarf or something.

Re porridge -- if you put hot water in the pan to soak it straight away after you get the porridge out of it, it's much easier to wash.

cold water does fine.

a significant part of my upbringing was the everlasting porridge pan - i.e. make porridge, serve, put pan to soak in clean cold water. following day - pour out water, make porridge in pan incorporating yesterday's leftovers...

Porridge is the tool of the devil. Especially if its like the stuff my mother makes, i have come across thinner concrete.

I have a microwave you're welcome to take off me for £20ish (grr - I should have said something about this to people ages ago, but the end result of my broken microwave saga is that I have two microwaves, and obviously I only need one....so let me know).
