mouseboks, Robin,
wintrmute, &
lucious_a. Only had one floor this time (the middle floor at Electrowerkz), & was far emptier than the one we went to before Christmas. Notably after about 3, by which time there were only 30 or so people. I had a good time, though - nice to chat to folk, & some of the DJs were pretty good. I enjoyed Donna Summers (no, not that one), who was terribly enthusiastic. And later on there The Doubtful Guest was excellent (not to mention quite cute ;-) ) - had a chat to her afterwards, & must remember to email her about where she's playing next. Skyfish also good. Pete & I finally wandered back home around 0530 when I decided I was *tired*. Got the bus back to London Bridge, then walked along the river as dawn was breaking, which was lovely.
kitty_goth, enquiring about the timing of Pirates of Penzance that evening. "I dunno, I'm asleep," I said. "I'll sort it out later. What time is it, anyway? *FIVE O'CLOCK*? What the - how - five? really? help!" So I spent the next two hours zooming round in a panic trying to get myself & Pete cleaned, fed, & out of the door.
Pirates, however, was rather fun. Featuring Giles-out-of-Buffy as the Pirate King, yay. Though sadly he appears to have forgotten most of his stage training with all this TV work - his projection wasn't up to much at all (& we were right at the top). But he managed to be OK anyway. The Major-General was good, & did the patter song very well indeed (including repeating the last couple of verses twice, at ever-increasing speed). They did the end of the 'with cat-like tread' pirate song a couple of times over, as well, because it was going so well. As ever with G&S, the whole thing was very audience-aware & tongue-in-cheek, & it was much fun all round. Frederick was quite cute, especially with his glasses & pirate kit on. Giles screwed up one of his lines & all 3 of the actors then on the stage (Giles, Frederick, & Ruth) corpsed horribly, & then took the piss out of themselves, so it was entertaining anyway.
ali_anarres,
sbp, Pete & I walked along the river to the Millenium Bridge, to visit the Tate, as it was late-night opening for the last night of the Weather Project. Met up with my friends Richard & Alison who were down to see His Dark Materials at the Tate, & lay around being Art & looking at ourselves in the ceiling for a bit. Sean headed off to Stay Beautiful, but Pete & I were too knackered to face it (as well, I think, given what I heard about queues & crowdedness & heat). Dropped by to see
marnameow & sympathise with her poor damaged face, & to knit a bit, before bed. Although I couldn't sleep for bloody ages, bah.
kitty_goth, hurrah. Spent the evening in Bermondsey with Pete, hurrah as well. Nice boyfriends. Rehearsal last night, & then I got home feeling horribly sick & couldn't eat most of my dinner. This is most unlike me, & caused me much distress. However, today I ate a truly enormous quantity of leftover stew-&-baked-potato, so I must be better again.
Night in with P tonight; night in *all by myself* tomorrow (yay! am at the needing-time-alone stage again); lunch with
martling on Thursday, then night with
kitty_goth that evening; off to ATP on Friday [bouncebounce]. Plus Pete tells me that my pots & things have arrived, so hopefully I shall plant some more plants this evening before the sun sets. And the insurance are delivering my NEW BIKE on Thursday.
